In a world that seems increasingly evil, I fear too many souls have become driftwood.
In the battle for our souls, we are standing in the waters of sin and temptation. We are pushed and pulled by the currents of Satan and we need to remain resolute and keep our ground.
Sometimes the water is ankle deep and sometimes it tickles our chins, but no matter how hard it is, we need to remain still, our feet firmly planted in truth and lifting our arms to God.
People who are lukewarm, who take no stand, are like driftwood atop the water, flowing where ever the currents take them. Their beliefs are not rooted and so they move with the culture and delude themselves that they are standing on moral ground, when they are actually floating on top of evil sludge, neither redirecting it nor stopping it, just shaking their heads at the direction of the currents with confusion and disdain.
We must face the onslaught of evil and remain still. Do not budge! If we can get enough of us, standing should to shoulder, we can become like a holy dam, stopping the flow of apostasy, pushing back heresy and keeping sin from washing over the world.
But we have to start working together. We have to put aside our petty differences that Satan wants us to focus on. We have to put away our electronic gadgets Satan wants to distract us with. We need to find quiet time to pray, to lean on God, to seek his guidance and his strength, to deepen our roots so that we may stand firm.
The currents of evil never stop churning. Our job is to keep it from reaching our shores by refusing to move in the face of a tidal wave of sin. We must be strong when, even if we are all alone, surrounded by driftwood mocking us.
We must not budge.
