Since the future shooting of Purgatory, USA episodes is completely uncertain, one of the areas of concern is to make sure that the series ends with an episode where there is a sense of closure.
Out of the original four episodes shot, the fourth episode fits that mold.
Our original hope was to shoot 12 episodes. The reality, due to school schedules and Tiffany’s inevitable move to a college within six months, is that we’ll be lucky if we get to shoot two more, for a total of seven. We’ve completed five and we have a wonderful sixth script written, but we’ve yet to write a complete, final, series wrap-up episode.
On the set for Episode 5 about Envy.
So, until we’re able to write and shoot that true “final” episode, we’re going to keep the original Episode 4 as our last one, just in case.
Because of that, Episode 5 (envy) and Episode 4 (vanity) are now flip/flopped. Now, we’ll release Episode 5 next and push out Episode 4 as far as we can until we are able to complete a “real” final episode.
On the set again, for the re-shoot.
That means we have to have Episode 5 completely done within the next month, as its new air date is now 12/21/08. There’s a lot of work to do. Fortunately, we were able to complete a re-shoot of a critical part of a scene last night. We should have the rough cut edited and color corrected by this weekend. Then there’s a lot of work to do with audio, sound effects and music.
But we’ll get it done. It’s nice to work on a deadline. Keeps you motivated.
