So, when you don’t have a lot of money, you have to improvise. I had been reading about how to get soft, consistent light in the most frugal and effective way possible.
After scanning many posts in the HVXUser forum, I found a simple way of meeting these very basic lighting needs by using bright, cool florescent lights and Chinese Balls (or Chinese Lanterns).
Since we have such a short time to shoot, I decided to attach these lights to rolling garment racks so they could be easily moved into position. We’ll also have some other lights using the same bulbs on hand, if we need them.
Here’s how I put them together… all for about $50 per light.
I’ll post some sample shots using the lights later.
I created two of these setups, so we’ll see how they work.
